Starkers was launched in 2017 by model Roy Joseph Butler and painter Leo Crane. Having met through life drawing, we had a strong desire to create something fun and exuberant that celebrates the nude in all its diversity, particularly for those less well-served. This led us to lesbian hen and gay stag events and onto inclusive celebration, corporate, community and public life drawing tailored to the LGBTQI+ community and open to everyone: something inclusively queer and exclusively fabulous.
Roy has over four years' experience as a professional artists' model. His work ranges from established institutions such as the Royal Drawing School and the London Atelier of Representational Art to drop-in classes and hen parties. He has been captured in all sorts of media, from paint to pixels, not to mention clay and even marzipan.
