Pride in London’s theme this year is Love Happens Here. What better way to continue our foray into the Pride season than with our own Love Happens Here life drawing night!
Think of it as St. Valentine meets St. Sebastian, but without the brutal ending. Model Carl Keane took to the stage complete with rainbow angel’s wings, a glittering tiara and a natural energy and dynamism that made the night truly memorable.
The 2-minute poses were moments of flight, or flowers and giving, of statuesque exuberance and of outright playfulness. 5 and 10-minutes poses offered up every angle of the model, sitting standing and laying against a heart in the background, an array of lights in the fore.
After the break, Carl continued to throw tricky, exciting poses, each for 15 minutes in length. And each time, the theme was realised in a fresh and fascinating way.
On the heels of Pride and Protest and Love Happens Here comes Queer and the City, the Starkers life drawing extravaganza in collaboration with Pride in London and the Royal Institute of British Architects.
We welcome you to RIBA on Tuesday, July 4th 2017, for Queer and the City, featuring models Lidia and Pinto Nan (a Starkers Academy alumnus). The event is 6:30 – 8:30pm. To beat the crowds and get a choice seat, book in advance here.
£14/£11 for RIBA Members and Friends
Can’t draw? Who cares!
